Then after posing the model, I’ll lower the opacity and then trace over to more or less “get” how the general pose would work, I prefer to first draw my characters “naked” because it helps to visualice how the clothes would fold and act with the body; it helps to make the clothes more natural.
Nothing reveals poor drawing skill better than life drawing art classes. If you draw some pots and pans, or a few flowers, or even a tree, you can make quite a few mistakes and your drawing will still look pretty good. But when you draw a naked human body even very small errors can ruin the sketch. We humans know ourselves too well and soon spot any mistakes!
Learning how to draw the naked body will enable you to draw anything you wish and will improve your paintings.
I started life modelling in 2019 as a means of making some extra cash and in a bid to step outside of my comfort zone. Life drawing, for those who don’t know, is much like still life drawing except that the subject is a living being who holds poses for the artist to draw. Rather than a bowl of fruit, you have a (usually) naked model.
We now have our wireframe or stick man with its body proportions. With that done, I am now going to attempt to turn our stick person ( stick female ) below into something that I hope will vaguely resemble the female body. We are not looking to draw the perfect female body as after all, we are beginners. Drawing the perfect female body will come with practice, although realistically; is there such a thing?
